And these were the seeds of the baobab.

그것은 바로 바오밥나무의 씨앗들이었다. 

 

The soil of that planet was infested with them.

그 행성의 땅은 그것들로 가득했다. 

 

A baobab is something you will never, never be able to get rid of,  if you attend to it too late.

니가 너무 늦게 돌본다면 바오밥나무는 결코 없앨 수 없을 거야. 

 

It spreads over the entire planet.

그것은 행성 전체로 퍼져 나가지.

 

It bores clear through it with its roots.

그것은 뿌리로 구멍을 판다. 

 

And if the planet is too small, and the baobabs are too many, they split it in pieces.

그리고 행성이 정말 많고 바오밥나무가 많다면, 그것들이 행성을 조각내 버릴거다. 

 

"It is a question of discipline." the little prince said to me later on.

"그것은 훈육의 문제야." 나중에 어린왕자가 말했다. 

 

"When you've finished your own toilet in the morning, then it is time to attend to the toilet of your planet, just so

with the greatest care.

니가 아침에 똥싸고 나서, 행성들의 똥도 신경써서 비슷하게 치워줘야 해? ㅋ

 

You must see to it that you pull up regularly all the baobabs,

정기적으로 바오밥나무를 뽑아줘야 한다. 

at the very first moment when they can be distinguished from the rosebushes

니가 장미덩굴과 바오밥나무를 구별하는 순간에 말이다. 

 

which they resemble so closely in their earliest youth.

그것들이 어린 시절에는 매우 닮았거든.

 

It is very tedious work," the little prince added, "but very easy."

그것은 매우 지루한 일이지만 엄청 쉬워.

 

And one day he said to me: "You ought to make a beautiful drawing, so that the children where you live can see exactly how all this is.

어느날 어린왕자가 나에게 말했다.  " 아름다운 그림하나를 그려줘. 그러면 니가 있는 행성에 살고 있는 어린이들이 이 모든 것들이 어떤지 알 수 있을거야. 

 

That would be very useful to them if they were to travel some day. "

그 아이들이 언젠가 여행을 한다면 매우 유용할거야. 

 

Sometimes  he added, "there is no harm in putting off a piece of work until another day.

이따금씩은 다른날까지 어떤 일을 미루는 것도 괜찮기는 해. 

But when it is a matter of baobabs, that always means a catastrophe.

하지만, 바오밥나무의 경우에는 그것이 재앙을 의미하지.

 

I knew a planet that was inhabited by a lazy man.

어떤 게으른 사람이 살고 있는 행성을 알고 있어. 

 

He neglected three little bushes.

그는 세 그루의 나무를 방치했어.

bore : 구멍을 파다. 

 

discipline : 훈련, 훈육

 

see to it that : 반드시 ~하도록 해야 한다. 

 

tedious : 지루한, 싫증나는

 

catastrophe : 재앙 (=disaster)

 

neglect : 돌보지 않다. 방치하다.
